The Hattiesburg Police Department has taken a fourth suspect into custody in the MJ Daniels murder case.
Law enforcement arrested 16-year-old Nytavion Shaw of Laurel around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, charging him as an adult with one count of capital murder and one count of attempted armed carjacking.
Shaw joins Orlando May, 18, Allen Marcus Gardner, 17, and Samir Green, 16, as an apprehended suspect in the investigation, with all four being charged with one count of capital murder and armed carjacking, along with May being charged with additional counts of felony eluding and two counts of grand larceny auto.
Daniels was found unresponsive in his vehicle the night of June 11 and was pronounced dead on the scene by Hattiesburg crime scene investigators.
HPD called the updated information “preliminary and subject to change,” adding that additional arrests and charges could occur in the ongoing investigation.
