A former Mississippi sheriff was arrested over the weekend for driving under the influence.
Jody Ashley, who served two terms as Wayne County sheriff from 2015 to 2023, was taken into custody by members of the Waynesboro Police Department after they spotted him driving recklessly. Upon pulling him over, they discovered that Ashley was under the influence.
Ashley was booked into the Wayne County Jail but has since been released and is facing multiple charges. It’s unclear if the substance Ashley was intoxicated with was alcohol.
