Former Speaker of the House Tim Ford was honored this week during a ceremony where a plaque was unveiled naming a government office in his memory.
Governor Phil Bryant along with many of Ford’s former colleagues and friends gathered at the ceremony that dedicated the Mississippi Public Employees’ Retirement System Building in his remembrance. Ford, a Democrat, was first elected a member of the Mississippi House in 1979 and in 1988, was elected by his peers to serve as Speaker of the House. He remained in the position as Speaker for 16 years.
“He was a dear friend who is missed each day, and this is a well-deserved honor for his legacy,” said Governor Phil Bryant.
