In a homecoming of sorts, former Southern Miss football coach Will Hall is returning to Tulane.
Hall, who was fired midway through the 2024 season as the head coach in Hattiesburg, was reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel as the newest pass game coordinator under head coach Jon Sumrall. Hall previously served as offensive coordinator for Tulane from 2019-20 and was spotted observing a couple of Green Wave practices shortly after departing from Southern Miss in October. Thamel also noted that Hall is expected to help coach wide receivers.

While Hall’s time at Southern Miss did not go as planned, compiling a 14-30 record and one bowl win over four seasons, his track record as an assistant coach is what helped get him his first FBS head-coaching gig.
During his first stint at Tulane, Hall’s offense set the program rushing record in 2019 with 3,162 yards. In 2020, the Green Wave finished No. 17 nationally in rushing (217.1 yards) and No. 22 in scoring (34.7 points) per game. Beforehand, Hall served as offensive coordinator at Louisiana in 2017 and associate head coach at Memphis in 2018 after successful head-coaching stints at Division II schools West Alabama and West Georgia.
As a player, Hall was a standout quarterback at Amory High School and North Alabama, where he won the Division II equivalent to the Heisman Trophy – the Harlon Hill Trophy – in 2003. After his playing days, he held assistant coaching positions at Presbyterian, Henderson State, Southwest Baptist, Arkansas-Monticello, and West Alabama.
