Former Public Service Commissioner Brent Bailey has found a new gig after voters chose not to reelect him last November.
In a release on Monday, the Republican announced that he has joined Efficient Power & Light as vice president of operations. The company, which is dedicated to helping business and homeowners find affordable energy efficiency, was founded and is based in Brandon.
“Conserving our natural resources and using energy wisely has always been at the heart of my personal and professional ambitions,” Bailey said. “Joining Efficient Power & Light will allow me to help homes and businesses increase energy efficiency, improve energy reliability, adopt new technologies, reduce emissions, and most importantly, save money.”

Bailey continued, saying his new post will help energy efficiency savings recover from negative impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Many areas, particularly Southern states, lost ground in energy efficiency savings due to COVID policies and consumer behavioral changes,” he said. “I believe that at Efficient Power & Light, we can build on the earlier progress gains in energy efficiency and make an even bigger impact for Mississippians in the years ahead with clean energy technologies.”
Bailey, who represented the central district on the public service commission from 2020-2024, lost to Democrat De’Keither Stamps in the general election last fall before calling for a reexamination of ballot boxes. With Bailey eventually calling off the challenge, Stamps was sworn in on Jan. 4.
