CLINTON, Miss. — A legend on and off the field, ex-Ole Miss Football player George “Buck” Randall has died.
Randall played football from 1960 – 1963. He was so well liked by other students, that U.S. Marshals sent him out to try to calm down student protesters when riots broke out after the school’s first black student, James Meredith, enrolled.
Randall died at his Clinton home Sunday.
He was 73.
