The former frontman of Bishop Gunn, a popular band out of Natchez, has been arrested yet again.
Travis McCready was taken into custody on Oct. 19 and charged with possession of a controlled substance along with driving under the influence, according to a report from the Natchez Democrat.
The 35-year-old singer was stopped in Mathiston for having an unreadable tag. Upon approaching the vehicle, police noticed McCready was not wearing a seatbelt and “had actions that led the Mathiston Police office to believe there was drug activity occurring,” a statement from the department read.
Webster County sheriffs and the Mississippi Highway Patrol were then called in to assist with McCready consenting to a search of the vehicle. Methamphetamine was then discovered, and McCready was apprehended.
This is the latest arrest for the once up-and-coming artist. In April, McCready was arrested at his Natchez residence after he allegedly mailed a pornographic image to a prisoner in Concordia Parish, La. In 2021, he was charged with possession of marijuana and multiple traffic violations before the charges were later dismissed.
McCready had previously helped Bishop Gunn top the Billboard Blues Albums chart with their 2018 album, Natchez. Popular songs included “Alabama,” “Shine,” and “Devil Is a Woman.”
Bishop Gunn went on to tour with Guns N’ Roses’ Slash in Europe and perform multiple shows with Kid Rock before a promising future hit a halt in 2020 as the band announced they were breaking up due to “internal issues.”
