A little over a month after Larry Williams announced he’s stepping down as head football coach at Hinds Community College, the veteran field general has found a new home at Coahoma Community College.
Williams announced his new gig via a social media graphic accompanied by a simple caption of “#GoTigers.”

Williams, who’s already been spotted on the recruiting trail for the rebuilding Tigers, was the head coach at Hinds from 2017-24 after previously serving as an assistant coach from 2004-09 and from 2013-17.
Upon taking the reins at Hinds in 2017, Williams led the Eagles to their first berth in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) playoffs since 2013 when he was defensive coordinator. In 2019, during his third season as head coach, Williams landed Hinds at a No. 8 ranking in the final NJCAA Top 25 poll and an appearance in the Graphic Edge Bowl.
Hinds went on to return to the MACCC playoffs in 2021, coming off a shortened yet successful 2020 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and finished with a loss in the Salt City Bowl. Momentum began to shift in the wrong direction as from 2022-24, the Eagles suffered three straight losing seasons.
Williams finished his stint at Hinds with a 38-34 overall record. He now takes over a Coahoma program that has not seen a winning season since 2020 and has lost 17 games in a row dating back to the 2023 campaign.
