JACKSON, Miss.- It is with great sadness that the Jackson metro area announces the loss of former Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin.
McMillin passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at St. Dominic Hospital at 3:15 am Thursday morning after being admitted on Tuesday. His wife, Delores McMillin, is asking the community for prayers for the family.
McMillin had been sick since 2013, and suffered numerous strokes over the years. It was only in the last six months that his condition began to deteriorate.
Affectionately known as “Mac,” he was the Hinds County Sheriff from 1991-2011. At one point he even took on the role as Jackson Police Chief. Mac also enjoyed being active in the local theater.
He is remembered as an outspoken leader in law enforcement, and a friendly man always willing to offer a helping hand.
