Former Hinds County Assistant DA pleads guilty in court

JACKSON, Miss.- Former Assistant District Attorney for Hinds County, Ivon Johnson, plead guilty to conspiracy charges. 

Johnson was accused of accepting money in exchange for treating certain defendants better than others in criminal cases. The total amount accepted is somewhere around $5,000.

Johnson was also charged with taking money from a co-conspirator in the amount of more than $15,000 on behalf of criminal defendants, including those with felony charges.

Investigators say the actions happened between June of 2013 and February 2016.

Johnson’s sentencing is scheduled for October 13.
