A former funeral home owner in the Mississippi Delta is behind bars after three dead bodies were discovered in a storage unit.
On Tuesday, law enforcement officials in Washington County were notified about a casket with a possible body inside of it at a Greenville storage facility. Upon arriving at the iStorage facility on Reed Road, police found not one, not two, but three corpses inside the casket in question.

As a result, 31-year-old Al Creath — the owner and director of now-defunct Creath Memorial in Greenville — was arrested and charged with two counts of improper desecration of a corpse. Creath is alleged to have illegally conducted business as a funeral director. The subject reportedly lost his license to run his business but used the storage facility to hold bodies until funeral proceedings could take place.
Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons issued the following statement on the incident:
The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families who may be affected by this tragic situation. I have full confidence in the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, other local and state law enforcement and investigative agencies, who are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this case.
We will ensure that all necessary resources are made available to support their efforts in uncovering the truth and bringing justice to those involved. Greenville is a community that values dignity, respect, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any actions that violate those principles.
I understand an arrest has been made, but I also urge others with information to come forward and assist authorities in their investigation. As more details emerge, we will continue to keep the public informed. In the meantime, I ask for patience and cooperation as we allow investigators to do their work. My administration remains committed to transparency, public safety, and ensuring that justice is served.”
As investigators continue to assess this case, police believe more charges will be levied against Creath. This is a developing story.
