PASCAGOULA, Miss.- The former owner of Jackson County Memorial Park was sentenced Friday to an eight-year suspended sentence and placed on probation for three years. The sentence is for misappropriation of funds and felony false pretense.
The Sun Herald reported, prosecutors said 82-year-old Ruby Nell Morgan pleaded guilty in 2011 to four counts of misappropriation of funds and seven on felony false pretense.
Morgan admitted to taking money for headstones at the cemetery in Pascagoula, but failing to deliver them. Prosecutors said she also did not set aside a percentage of the sales for perpetual care.
