Panola County Coroner Gracie Gulledge has confirmed that 33 year-old Travis Sanford died this morning after he was shot at his home on Woodruff Street in Courtland at 7:30 a.m.
Reports state that one suspect fled the scene and authorities took him into custody after tracking him down, and another was detained for questioning. One of the suspects had been in Sanford’s home for some hours before the shooting.
There were also two children inside the home who were not injured.
District Attorney John Champion confirmed that Sanford is the former boyfriend of Jessica Chambers, the Panola County teen who was burned to death in 2014.
Reports state that Sanford was in prison at the time of her death.
