A former Booneville High School basketball coach has pleaded not guilty to the third charge he faces for committing sex crimes against a minor.
According to the federal indictment, Kenny Paul Geno allegedly coerced an underage female to send him nude photos. He reportedly committed the crime from May 2019 to around April 2021.
Geno has since entered a plea to a superseding indictment — a document that amends and replaces the original indictment that included the third charge against him.
The former basketball coach is also accused of videotaping a sexual encounter between himself and a minor in 2022 and asking another underage female to send him nude pictures.
Court records allege that on April 1, 2022, Geno coerced one of the minors into engaging in sexually explicit conduct “for the purpose of producing any visual depiction of such conduct knowing and having reason to know that such visual depiction would be transported.”
From January 1 until September 1, 2023, Geno is alleged to have had sexual activity with one of the other minors.
Geno was a part-time assistant coach at his alma mater until earlier this month when the superintendent informed WTVA that he was no longer employed by Booneville High School. He helped both the boys’ and girls’ teams to state championships in 2022.
Before returning to Booneville, Geno played college basketball at the University of Georgia, where he averaged 11.7 minutes and 1.8 points per game over four years.
He was initially granted a $10,000 bond but has remained behind bars due to a pending revocation hearing, which will be in court on Thursday in Greenville.
