MERIDIAN, Miss.–The flu can kill you, and that doesn’t just apply to weak people, the elderly or small children. Ashley Dial, a third grade teacher at Northeast Elementary School in Meridian died this weekend.
WTOK reported Monday that Dial told the principal that she didn’t feel good Monday. She went to the doctor.
It got worse, and by Friday she was in the ICU. That’s where she passed away. Dial was 28.
The CDC said last week that Mississippi has had high numbers of people with the flu this season. While the flu shot can help keep you from getting the flu, a new strain was detected after this year’s vaccine had already been mixed and shipped.
