Flowood officials have selected a new chief of police to fill the shoes of Ricky McMillian, who passed away on Saturday after a battle with Stage 4 cancer.
The mayor and board of aldermen announced Eric Zetterholm to oversee the city’s police department.
Zetterholm, a former U.S. Marine, began his law enforcement career in 2002 with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office. He has served with the Flowood Police Department since 2012.
Zetterholm brings decades of experience to the position, holding previous stints as a patrol officer, investigator, detective sergeant, and lieutenant.
McMillian was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year before community members came together to raise money through silent auctions and other events for the late chief of police’s treatment.
