PASCAGOULA, Miss.–Several inches of rain falling in a very short period is what had several streets in Pascagoula flooded Sunday and a flash flood watch in effect though 7 Monday night. More rain could happen through all of Mississippi, but the heaviest could be in the same spot.
“All of Mississippi has a decent shot at at least some showers,” said Brad Bryant, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service,”but as far as heavy rain goes, it looks like coastal Mississippi and eastern Mississippi has the best chance, and that’ll be as it was yesterday.”
Bryant said the rain chances were being caused by a hybrid tropical system that is trying to develop over the southern Gulf of Mexico.
“It’s not getting everybody wet, but some areas it’s getting really wet.”
Most of Mississippi has a 60 to 70 percent chance of rain, withy at least a 50 percent chance into Tuesday.
