JACKSON, Miss.–If you see flags lowered to half staff today, it’s in honor of state Rep. Esther Harrison, who died last week at age 69. Gov. Bryant issued an executive order Thursday for flags to be lowered.
Harrison, who had been on kidney dialysis for 12 years, passed away on her birthday.
She served in the Mississippi House for 15 years and leaves behind a daughter, a grandson and four siblings.
She served as chair of the Library Committee and also served on the House Ways and Means Committee.
