MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Miss.–The first death from West Nile virus in 2013 has happened in central Mississippi.
The State Health Department confirmed to the Clarion Ledger that death has occurred along with two other human cases in Forrest and Wayne counties.
So far this year there are six cases and they’ve all popped up fairly recently.
The best way to avoid the virus is to obviously avoid the insects altogether by ridding your area of standing water.
