JACKSON, Miss.–Rain is in the forecast for the entire weekend, with occasional breaks as several weather systems roll in from the west. By Monday morning as much as two to three inches may have fallen in Mississippi.
“The greatest area of concern right now is the western half of Mississippi, west of 55,” said Mike Edmunston, meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “A second area of concern would be south of I-20. That looks to be where some of the heaviest rain could fall this weekend.”
THE WHOLE INTERVIEW
For Friday the rain should start in the Delta and move south.
Then there’s a break for Saturday morning. The Mal’s St. Paddy’s Day Parade starts at 1 Saturday and the Run Up for Downs activities get started in the afternoon, too. Edmunston said both could be wet.
“We’ll be looking back to the southwest, that’s when we expect rain to be moving back into the area.”
The next dry days will be Monday and Tuesday, with rain popping back up into the forecast by Thursday.
