MARION, Miss.–An early Thursday fire killed a man in Lauderdale County, in the Marion community. It took firefighters several hours to put the fire out. When they did, they found the man’s body in the bed.
WTOK-TV reported that Coroner Clayton Cobbler said the man was 63, and white. He did not give out the name. The man’s body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
Cobbler added that smoke inhalation is usually what kills people in a fire.
It was while firefighters were working to put out the fire that people started realizing that the man who lived in the house was not outside.
