A female inmate has been found deceased in a cell at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
On Tuesday, jail employees found 53-year-old Marie Parkman, a white female from Jackson, unresponsive in her cell.
Medical staff at the facility immediately administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and took over patient care. Parkman was ultimately ruled dead.
Deputies at the scene secured the area until officials with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation could arrive. No foul play is suspected at this time.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
