A roundtable discussion revolving around technology and the internet will be held today, February 19th at Jackson State University. The event is set to start at 11:00 a.m. in the Ballroom of the Student Center at JSU and will focus on workforce development and training in the telecommunications and technology sectors. The roundtable will be hosted by U.S. Senator Roger Wicker and FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr will also be a panelist along with some of Mississippi’s leading innovators, educators, and job creators.
Part of what this roundtable is going to do, is to talk about how we make sure that everyone has a chance to participate in both this type of broadband build-out, which can take some special skills and more generally, how do we look at apprenticeship programs, workforce development programs to make sure that everybody can participate in this growing economy that we have,” said Commissioner Carr.
He added that there is a definite need for a more skilled workforce to go along with the technological strides that are continuously happening in the U.S.
