OXFORD, MISS– After a video went viral showing an officer throwing a punch at an Ole Miss fan at Saturday’s game, the FBI has stepped in, and an officer is suspended.
The name of that officer is not being released at this time, but he works for the New Albany police department. Many off-campus officers are recruited to work game days in Oxford.
The University of Mississippi asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation to check out the matter, saying they take violence on campus very seriously.
Holly Barnes posted a video of her husband Sunday, showing him speaking with a few cops before he was allegedly punched, then taken away.
Barnes says her husband, a two-time vet, suffered a concussion, fractured bones around his eyes, and that the police department did nothing to get him medical attention.
News Mississippi will continue to follow this story.
