One of Jackson’s most popular bars has announced it’s closing its doors after nearly three decades.
Team members at Fenian’s Pub, located at the intersection of Fortification Street and Jefferson Street and just blocks away from downtown, took to social media Tuesday afternoon to make the announcement.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Fenian’s Pub after nearly 28 years of serving this incredible community,” a portion of the post reads. “Since opening our doors, we have been honored to be a place where friends gathered, memories were made, and the spirit of Jackson was celebrated.”
While Fenian’s did not acknowledge the reason for closing, social media users quickly expressed a range of emotions over the beloved watering hole shutting down.
“That is a crying shame. I always liked Fenian’s when I lived in Jackson. It’s honestly one of the better Irish Pubs I’ve been to,” one Facebook user wrote.
“So many great memories on that porch! Met a lot of amazing people,” another wrote, while one person joked, “Thank you for all the memories and numerous hangovers throughout the years.”
Fenian’s has long been a staple to the Jackson nightlife community with weekly karaoke, trivia nights, and live music. Tuesday’s announcement has many wondering if the bar will relocate, but as of now, there are no indications that will be the case.
“Our last day will be Tuesday, September 10, so come out and join us one more time for some hearty food, stout libations, and just a few more salutations!” the post concluded.
