On Monday, Mississippi Valley State became the final Division I men’s college basketball team to win a game this season, and rightfully so, everyone in attendance was hyped.
Upon the Delta Devils (1-27, 1-14 SWAC) closing out a 57-51 senior night win over Prairie View A&M (10-16, 5-10), fans stormed the court as the announcers went bonkers.

Props to one of the announcers truthfully pointing out that MVSU is “currently on a one-game winning streak.”
The Delta Devils followed Detroit Mercy as the final team to win a game this year after the Titans broke their losing streak on Feb. 14 against IUPUI. And thankfully, the Delta Devils did as they were on pace to join unwelcome company as the ninth team in Division I history to go winless for an entire season.
MVSU has three games remaining – all on the road – against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Alcorn State, and Jackson State. Statistically, it is impossible for them to qualify for this year’s SWAC Tournament, which begins on March 13.
