Marshall Henderson was must-see TV during his Ole Miss basketball career. Now, the fan-favorite is back in Oxford as he joins Kermit Davis’ staff as a graduate manager.
“Of course, I am thrilled to be back in Oxford. The people here have been more than wonderful to me for a long time,” Henderson said. “Anything I can do to help the basketball team continue their success, I will do to the fullest of my ability. I am very excited about getting a master’s degree. When I was an undergrad academically, I wasn’t as focused as I needed to be, and this position gives me a path to make peace with myself on that front.”
The sharp-shooting guard was the epitome of “hate to play against him, but love to have him on your team,” just ask Auburn fans.

In his first season at Ole Miss after transferring from South Plains College, Henderson set a school record with 138 threes while leading the Rebels to a 27-9 record and the 2013 SEC Tournament title. In their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001, Henderson led the Rebels in scoring in their upset win over 5th-seeded Wisconsin.
After finishing third nationally with 129 threes in 2014, Henderson had a short stint in the NBA D-League before playing professionally in China, Italy, Iraq and Qatar. Prior to his return to Oxford, Henderson served as a coach at a Texas high school and as an assistant coach at Thomas University, an NAIA school in Georgia.
“We love having our former players back to Ole Miss to pursue their master’s degree and further their coaching careers. We are excited to have Marshall back with Ole Miss Basketball and join our program as a graduate manager,” Davis said. “In talks with Marshall, you can tell his great passion for basketball and working with young people.”
The Rebels are currently scheduled to open the 2020 season against New Orleans on November 10th.
