WASHINGTON — The two police officers shot during a bank robbery last month in Tupelo, Sgt. Gale Stauffer and Officer Joseph Maher, are getting support from Congressman Alan Nunnelee. He said he is writing a letter of support for their nominations to receive the Congressional badge of bravery.
“By their actions, Sgt. Stauffer and officer Maher showed there are still heroes among us,” said Nunnelee on the House floor Wednesday.
Stauffer died from his injuries and Maher home on the road to recovery.
