The Mississippi fair is searching for new leadership.
Paige Manning, director of Marketing & PR for the Mississippi Department of Agriculture, has confirmed that executive director of the Fair Commission Rick Reno and Assistant Executive Director Peter Dembowski have been let go. The department released the following statement, but did not provide a specific reason for their departure.
“Rick Reno and Peter Dembowski are no longer employed by the Mississippi Fair Commission. The Fair Commission has an experienced staff in place and all planned events and concerts at the Fairgrounds will take place as scheduled.”
The Mississippi fair ended just a few weeks ago and numbers were down from previous years. Around 590,000 people attended the annual fair this year, a significant drop from the more than 733,000 people that attended last year’s fair.
