JACKSON, Miss. — Former Greenville Public School District Superintendent Harvey Franklin is behind the bars at a minimum security prison in Montgomery, Ala. today.
Franklin arrived there Monday to begin serving his more than six year sentence in a federal bribery case related to a student reading program. The woman selling that program in August 2012, gave and, Franklin admitted accepting, more than $270,000 to influence the Greenville district to buy it.
Franklin’s lawyer has filed a notice to appeal the case to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
