JACKSON, Miss. – The former director of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has been hired by Governor Phil Bryant to work as a consultant.
Her contract says Trudy Fisher will advise the governor on emergency policy, environmental and restoration policy and provide support in court cases. Fisher, a lawyer, will charge $195 an hour, up to $99,000 over a year. Her contract is for six months, but can be renewed for six additional months.
Fisher led MDEQ for seven years before resigning. Gary Rikard was named to replace her at the agency.
