An escaped inmate who was wanted for killing a pastor is dead following a standoff with police in Leake County.
According to WJTV, Dylan Arrington was discovered in a house on Conway Road Wednesday morning around 7:45. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, Arrington, 22, barricaded himself inside the home before shooting at officers.
Leake County Sheriff Randy Atkinson told the TV station that the home in which the suspect is inside of is engulfed in flames as crews continue to put out the fire. He also confirmed that a deputy has been shot during the standoff, but per a report from Clarke County Hot Topics, the deputy is expected to make a full recovery.
Arrington, who allegedly killed Jackson preacher Anthony Watts Monday evening before stealing his vehicle, escaped the Raymond Detention Center alongside Casey Grayson, 24, Corey Harrison, 22, and Jerry Raynes, 51, by climbing through the roof Saturday night. At least one of the other escapees is expected to have made their way to Texas after a stolen public works vehicle was located in Spring Valley.
