Environmental activist Erin Brockovich has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Women’s Day Luncheon.
The luncheon will take place at the Country Club of Jackson Ballroom on Tuesday, October 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Brockovich was a divorced single mother trying to make a living until she crossed paths with lawyer Ed Masry. She began working for Masry as a file clerk after he represented her on an automobile accident case.
While organizing papers for a pro-bono suit, Brockovich discovered medical records that would explode into the largest direct-action lawsuit with Pacific Gas & Electric, ultimately forcing the utility giant to pay out the largest toxic tort injury settlement in U.S. history.
The story and later film, starring Julia Roberts, made “Erin Brockovich” a household name. Over time, Brockovich realized she could use the distinction to spread positive messages of personal empowerment and encourage others to stand up and make a difference.
After appearing on numerous forms of media, including hosting several TV shows, Brockovich then dominated the publishing world with her New York Times Business Bestseller, “Take It From Me: Life’s A Struggle, But You Can Win.”
She has also written two fiction novels, “Rock Bottom” and “Hot Water.” Her latest release, “Superman’s Not Coming: Our National Water Crisis and What We the People Can Do About It,” drew wide media attention before its publication.
Brockovich is currently involved in numerous environmental projects worldwide as President of Brockovich Research & Consulting.
