KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–Voters in Kosciusko have approved the sale of liquor inside the city limits. In special liquor referendum held Tuesday, there were 855 votes (65 percent) cast in favor of measure and 459 (35 percent) against.
The board of aldermen will now set regulations concerning where and when liquor can be sold, said Kosciusko Mayor Jimmy Cockroft.
Kosciusko becomes one of many communities to approve the sale of liquor since 2012, when a state law was passed that allows communities of more than 5,000 people to hold liquor referendums.
