JACKSON, Miss. – How well do you know your elected officials? Mississippi Representative Richard Bennett says he is working on a bill that will require all elected officials, superintendents, and judges to be drug tested upon entering office.
“We would have to go through an election again, but I tell you. It is worth it,” said Bennett. “If you are an elected official, you serve in the public, you need to be held at a higher standard. I think school board members and superintendents need to be role models for students.”
Right now it is unclear if this bill will make it to the legislature during the 2014 session.
