The Lee County Sheriff’s Department has announced two related drug busts that resulted in one arrest and over 2,000 fentanyl pills being seized.
Deputies and narcotics agents used a search warrant on Aug. 29 at an undisclosed location in Guntown. During the search, 300 fentanyl pills were discovered and Theodis Barron, Jr. was taken into custody.
The investigation into Barron’s alleged nefarious dealings led to a second residence in Tupelo where at least 2,000 additional fentanyl pills were discovered, resulting in Barron being charged with aggravated trafficking of a Schedule II controlled substance and trafficking of a Schedule II controlled substance.
“This residence had been the subject of numerous citizen complaints regarding illegal drug activities,” Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said, commending the Tupelo Police Department for aiding in the search. “This is an excellent result of these agencies working together to combat a problem threatening our communities. Fentanyl is a dangerous problem, and we want to do all we can to keep this dangerous drug out of our community.”
Barron, 58, is being held without bond.
