JACKSON, Miss. – Trying to keep your loved ones safe, a crucial statistic appears to be dropping for the better.
At one point Mississippi had the 5th most cases of domestic violence in the country. Today the state is ranked 34th according to the Violence Policy Center.
Attorney General Jim Hood says he’s proud of how far the magnolia state has come but knows that there is a lot left to be done.
He also says domestic violence is picked up in the home, not inherited, and that keeping them informed and educated is the key to prevention.
