JACKSON, Miss.–A kidnapping case Wednesday had police tracking the cell phone movements of the accused perp, who they say took the manager of a Dollar General from his store on Capital Street, fired a shot in the process, then stuffed the manager into a van, where he remained for several hours.
JPD Asst. Chief Eric Wall told media that Justin Dennis was caught just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
“we received a call about 4:30 p.m. about shots fired. We were under the impression it was an armed robbery,” said Wall.
He said a hostage negotiator talked Dennis into releasing Erin Howard. He said a family friend picked Howard up and brought her to police at the store.
“She’s extremely shaken, but she’s elated (to be free),” he said.
The weapon used was also recovered.
Police were not discussing the motive for the kidnapping.
