RANKIN COUNTY, Miss.–This one could be hard to take, but here goes. A pup fell out of the back of a truck in Rankin County Wednesday. That’s bad enough, but what’s worse is that the truck was going down the highway and the dog was tied to the back.
The dog was dragged until owner Marion Hess Martin, 64, stopped at a store about a mile down the road, said a news release from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Dept.
Once Martin saw the dog, he untied it and left it in the parking lot, said the sheriff’s dept.
The dog was later taken to a vet and will live, but it may never walk normally again.
Martin was taken to jail, charged with aggravated animal cruelty. His bond was $10,000.
