JACKSON, Miss. — A Jackson doctor is accused of shooting his wife at their home Wednesday night. William Mayfield, 68, was charged with murder after Susan Mayfield died at a local hospital.
Mayfield made his initial appearance in court Thursday morning and was denied bond. Investigators said Mayfiled was upset because another man repeatedly called his home for his wife.
Mayfield graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1970. The opthamologist was affiliated with Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and St Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to vitals.com.
