JACKSON, Miss.- Due to a tied election politicians resorted to drawing straws to decide who would take the District 79 seat.
Friday to break the tie the two candidates drew straws. Rules were, whoever draws the green straw wins the race. that straw was drawn by Incumbent Democratic Rep. Bo Eaton of Taylorsville.
He was tied with Republican challenger Mark Tullos of Raleigh at 4,589 votes. Tullos can challenge the outcome and then the decision will go to the full House of Representatives. They would make that decision in January.
The straws were drawn in the governor’s conference room in the Sillers building in Jackson.
