HOLMES COUNTY, Miss.–IF you see someone pulling up to one of those giant diesel tanks on farms in Holmes County in the middle of the night, call the sheriff’s department. It could be the diesel thief or thieves they are looking for.
With diesel being very expensive right now, the farmers who have been victimized are looking at some pretty tough losses, with thousands of gallons missing in the county.
WJTV TV interviewed one farmer who said their operation has lost thousands of gallons and thousands of dollars worth of fuel and they are now afrain to put the fuel back in the tanks because they feel like somebody might pop the lock off again and again pump all the diesel out.
Valdis Gercens of Egypt Plantation said the thefts started about three weeks ago.
