JACKSON, Miss. — Basketball great and entrepreneur Earvin “Magic” Johnson was at Jackson State University Tuesday encouraging students to dream big.
“I was once like them, being…grew up poor. But I didn’t have poor dreams,” explained Johnson.
An NBA legend and hall of famer, Johnson retired from the LA Lakers in 1991 after announcing to the world that he had HIV. He is now chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises. “Not only did I want to become a good basketball player, I wanted to become a businessman and here I am doing just that.”
Johnson told students they could achieve greatness and success in life if they took education and the opportunities they have a Jackson State seriously.
