Diddy has come through on his promise to Jackson State.
During the annual BET Awards last June, the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper announced plans to donate $1 million to his alma mater Howard University and another million to Jackson State University and then-head football coach Deion Sanders.
“I want to donate a million dollars to Howard University,” Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, said after winning the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. “Also, I’m going to drop another million dollars on Deion Sanders and Jackson State, because we should play for us.”

Even though Sanders has since split from Jackson for an FBS-level job with Colorado University, interim JSU president Dr. Elayne Hayes-Anthony recently announced during a meeting that Diddy has kept his promise and payments will begin as soon as next week.
The donation, which Hayes-Anthony said will be deposited in three installments, was pledged to Jackson State’s football program after Sanders led the team to its first Southwestern Athletic Conference championship since 2007. The NFL Hall of Famer proceeded to lead the Tigers to another SWAC championship in 2022 before accepting the head coaching position with the Buffaloes.
