HERNANDO, Miss.- DeSoto County students may have gotten to enjoy a few days off for snow days, but they’re now going to have to make up those days on Saturdays.
Students will make up those school days by attending school on two Saturdays and an extra day at the end of the school year.
The Commercial Appeal reports, board members on Wednesday approved March 21 and April 11, both Saturdays, as makeup days, along with tacking May 26 onto the calendar at the end. The two Saturday dates will be 60 percent days, meaning students will not have to attend a full day, but May 26 will be a regular school day.
More Saturday classes will come after officials closed Thursday in response to the latest round of winter weather.
Officials said days built into the academic calendar as optional days have been used already.
