A DeSoto Central Elementary School teacher has been locked up for alleged possession of child pornography.
The Southaven Police Department confirmed receiving a tip during the week of March 10-14, which was spring break for the school, about an educator downloading inappropriate videos and images of children. After investigating, officials identified Mitchell Cantrell as the alleged perpetrator.

On Tuesday, law enforcement authorities in Southaven and Olice Branch placed Cantrell into custody on one count of possessing child pornography.
According to police, no students are reported to be involved in the incident. DeSoto Central Elementary officials have informed authorities that Cantrell is no longer an employee of the school district. No additional details have been released at this time.
