Roughly 130 pounds of “high grade” marijuana — a street value nearing $400,000 — was confiscated during a traffic stop on Interstate 20 on Friday.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey reports that deputies pulled over a commercial vehicle transporter due to suspicion surrounding one of the vehicles being hauled.
During what is said to be a consensual search of the suspicious vehicle, deputies with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Interdiction Team and police canines discovered the large quantity of marijuana in duffel bags in the trunk.
The driver hauling the vehicles is not facing any charges at this time and claims to have had no knowledge that there were illegal substances present within the vicinity of the transport.
