Congressman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., has announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development has awarded over $3 million to the Delta Regional Authority located in Clarksdale.
The investment will be used to provide technical assistance for 252 counties and parishes in eight regions.
$1,627,174 will be given to Rural Business Development Grant funds and $1,400,678 to Delta Health Care Services Grant funds.
Under the Rural Business Development Grant, the Delta Regional Authority will bring rural community advancement programs to persistent poverty counties.
Funds through the Delta Health Care Services Grant will help Delta Regional Authority to bring rural community advancement programs to persistent poverty counties to enhance healthcare delivery in the Delta Region including critical access hospitals, small rural hospitals, rural health clinics, and other rural organizations.
