If you’re planning on visiting a driver service bureau in Mississippi, officials are asking for your patience at this time.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety had all driver service locations closed on Thursday and Friday amid delays caused by a system update. All outlets reopened on Monday, but the delays persisted.
In the meantime, the bureaus will remain open at regularly scheduled business hours, but with limited services, including:
- Firearm permits
- Identification cards not related to driver’s licenses
- Court required registry
Those renewing a firearm permit are urged to visit the DPS website, download all required forms, and submit their applications by mail.
“The Driver Service Bureau has achieved significant milestones over the past four years and remains committed to delivering the highest quality service to Mississippi residents,” a statement from DPS reads. “Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue promptly.”
