Authorities are investigating after a dead body was discovered by a person collecting aluminum cans in Scott County.
While details remain slim, Sheriff Mike Lee confirms that authorities were notified of the body by the unidentified metal collector on Sunday evening. The deceased person, presumed to be a male, was spotted on Strong Road in the northern area of the county.
Lee said the deceased body was in the decomposition stage, prompting police to believe that it had been in the region for a lengthy time period. The sheriff has reached out to law enforcement in other counties regarding missing individuals.
At this time, the dead individual has not been identified. The body has been taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
